Ramayana is also known by the name Ramayan. I will use Ramayan in the following text. Ramayan is an epic first written by Maharishi Valmiki Ji. Ramayan is Hindu's epic. Ramayan was first written in Sanskrit by Maharishi Valmiki Ji. Ramayan is one of the largest ancient or historical epic in world literature. Ramayan consists of about 24,000 shlokas and divided into six Kaands that are Adi or Baal Kaand, Ayodhya Kaand, Aranya Kaand, Kishkindha Kaand, Sundar Kaand and Lanka Kaand. Ramayan has about 500 sargas or chapters. Ramayan is based on the life of Lord Ram. All the Kaands are on the various life events of Lord Ram. Ram was the legendary prince of the Kingdom named Ayodhya which is now situated in Uttar Pradesh in India.
The Ramayan deals with the suffering and hardship of Lord Rama and his devotees and how they fought and won against lakes times more powerful Ravana. It is all about the power and strength of truth which could even make you win against a much more powerful enemy.
There are many characters in Ramayan some major characters are Lord Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrugan, Devi Sita, Ravana, Kumbhkaran, Vibhishan, Meghnath, Hanuman, Sugreev, Bali, Surpnakha, Luv, Kush, Jamvanth, Dashrath, Kaikeyi, and many others.
You all should read Ramayan and I believe that it is the best epic you might have heard or read about.
